BALDWIN - When it comes to the outdoors, October is one of Jim Warren's favorite months.

The Baldwin area hunter fisherman likes what he's been seeing of activity in recent weeks.

"Fishing, I've been winding up on that," Warren said. "We went out and got some bluegills a couple of weeks ago in eight foot of water. For the deer hunting, I check my deer cams. My grandson will be home next weekend and we'll be hunting in Sweetwater Township on our property.

"You can't believe the deer we've been seeing out there. Since this antler restriction, I've never seen so many big and as many bucks around. And the bears, they've been terrible.

"I've got a momma with two cubs who go through my yard before dark every evening, heading back to the lakes. I imagine it's for them to get water."

Warren has also been seeing a lot of turkeys.

"The bow hunting, I've talked to one other guy who's shot a buck and doe," he said. "But the weather has been lousy. It's just too wet. I'm waiting for gun season. I hope it's better and there's still deer around. They're starting to move around a little more now. I enjoy watching them."
