Baldwin set to open track season

Panthers hoping for league action

BALDWIN --  Baldwin track and field coach Robert Watkins is hoping to finally get the season started this week.

The first West Michigan D League jamboree set for last week at Mason County Eastern in Custer was rescheduled this week because of the weather.

“I have a couple of new guys coming out for the team this week,” Watkins said. “That will give us help in the long jump.”

Baldwin is set to have three jamborees prior to the league meet in mid-May.

“That takes us into regionals,” Watkins said. “Our regionals this year are in Brethren. That’s kind of a plus for us.”

Regionals give athletes a chance to qualify for the state meet.
