BALDWIN — A three-sport athlete like Miranda Roberts is in the middle of another transitional stretch.

This time, Roberts is going from basketball season to softball.

This week, the Baldwin girls were in the elementary school gym getting ready for the softball season, which will start next month. This is the third week, Roberts indicated. They’re waiting for the chance to get outdoors.

“We’ve gone over batting and pitching,” she said.

Roberts played catcher and shortstop last season.

“This year, I think I’ll just be catcher because we have a new catcher,” Roberts said, referring to Kiera Barber. “She’s a freshman, in her first year:”

The Panthers have two other freshmen with Riley Drilling and Diamond Cannon.

“We’ll be better because we have more pitchers,” Roberts said. “We can give our other pitchers a break.”

Roberts is confident the team will be better at the plate.

The season starts in early April.
