BALDWIN – Jalik Hawkins is a senior forward who has been delivering key points for the Baldwin Panthers in recent boys basketball games.

He had 13 points in a recent game against Pentwater.

“The last time we played them, I had 15 points,” Hawkins said. “It’s still a pretty good game. I’m mainly getting my points in the paint. My rebounding is pretty good.”

Hawkins has also been boxing out effectively. He feels he’s been playing his best basketball.

“I’m trying to do it while I can,” he said. “I’m trying to win a district championship with my (teammates). We want to work better and build chemistry with the team. You have to learn from your losses. You have to fix your mistakes and work harder. That’s how it goes.”

Hawkins has been among the most effective bowlers on the bowling team.

He said it’s probably been his best bowling season.

It’s almost like my junior year which has been pretty good,” he said. “I’ve bowled like a 189.”

Hawkins said he’s a good strike bowler. Going to regionals is a goal for Hawkins and the Panthers.
