Baldwin’s volleyball season ends in district tournament

BALDWIN — The season ended on Monday for Baldwin’s volleyball team at Pentwater in the Class D districts.

The Panthers lost 3-0 to Scottville-Mason County Eastern.

“It was a rough game,” Baldwin coach Duane Roberts said. “We could not find traction to play. I had a young team this season, and hope to grow the program for next year.”

The girls volleyball will play against the boys football team on Thursday for the team’s Pink Out Celebrations, Roberts said. The junior high will begin at 6 p.m., and the varsity will follow.

Pink out is to recognize breast cancer awareness.

Players for Baldwin this season, as listed on a recent roster, were: seniors Janay Scales, and Alexis Mooney, juniors Riley Drilling, Diamond Cannon, Elexus Pieske and Ally See, sophomores Monica Truxton, Jazlynn Johnson and Mariah Sowle and freshmen Areyanna Boatwright, Jenna Johnson, Alyssa Barnard and Kathryn Higbee.

The Panthers had two wins over Muskegon Heights.

Samantha Curtis served as the junior varsity coach.
