BIG RAPIDS – It was a very productive season for the Baldwin Panthers boy basketball team which finished at 18-5. But it was especially productive for junior Carmelo Lindsey who was recently named to the All-State Division 4 honorable mention list by the Associated Press.

Lindsey averaged 20 points a game.

“The season went pretty good,” he said. “We were a young team coming in. We had a good record and a good season.”

Among the favorite members was winning two out of three against Mason County Eastern.

“My best game was probably the Brethren game,” Lindsey said.  “We were down by like 15 points at the half. We came back and I got steals after steals after steals.”

It was a 68-59 win over Brethren and also helped the Panthers snap a three-game losing streak. It may have been the turning point of the season.

“We were playing good teams at the time,” Lindsey said. “I was happy with my season. I’m waiting for the next season. I’m planning on playing AAU this whole summer.”

He plays with Underrated Elite from Saginaw.

“It’s pretty good basketball,” he said. “We get great competition over there.”

Lindsey said he’s focus on improving on everything.
