BALDWIN – JJ Eads is set to coach his third varsity season of boys basketball at Baldwin with hopes of another successful record.

The season opens at Pentwater on Thursday. Last Thursday, the Panthers were at Evart to scrimmage the home school and Lakeview.

“We’re still behind where we need to be due to missing players with quarantined kids and students not getting rides to the gym those type of things,” Eads said. “We played two teams (at Evart). It was good for us. We need more conditioning. It worked out well.”

Baldwin scrimmaged at Tri County on  Nov. 29.

“They took it to us pretty good,” Eads said. “It’s good for us to see a bigger team and I hope we learned from this experience.”

Pentwater will have one game in prior to facing Baldwin. The Panthers have three games before Christmas break, which Eads feels is actually a good thing with his players being so far behind under various circumstances.

“We need more practices,” Eads said.
