BALDWIN — It was good start to the season on Monday for Baldwin junior high basketball team.

Baldwin won 53-20 at Marion.

“I thought we had a great defensive effort,” Baldwin coach Rob Atwood said. “We were able to get out and run with the fast-break buckets.”

Carmelo Lindsey scored 19 points to lead Baldwin while Aveon Hobbs had 14 and Karlito McKinney had 13.

“The key to our victory was our defensive intensity,” Atwood said “plus running out on the fast break. We worked well together to find the open man.”

Baldwin played at home in a scrimmage. The A team played Bear Lake twice and the B team faced Manistee Catholic Central twice.

Baldwin has 14 total junior high players between the two teams.

“It’s been a great start to the year and we’re looking to be conference champs again,” Atwood said.

Baldwin was scheduled to play at Manistee Catholic Central on Wednesday and home with Crossroads on Monday.

The season winds up with the West Michigan D League tournament on Dec. 5 and Dec. 8 at Baldwin.
