Baldwin junior high team improves to 1-1
BALDWIN — Baldwin’s junior high football team is ready for its October portion of the schedule.
The Panthers played at Brethren on Wednesday.
The Panthers will be at Mesick on Oct. 3, then has a home game on Oct. 10 with Marion and on Oct. 17 with Grand Traverse Academy.
Coach Mark Zajac said his Baldwin team played at Marion for the first time on Sept. 18 and lost 30-20.
The setback puts the Panthers are 1-1 prior to the Brethren game.
“We executed pretty well on some things,” Zajac said. “We made too many mistakes. I personally think we should have won, but we had too many mistakes.”
Carmelo Lindsay and Aveon Hobbs scored the touchdowns for Baldwin.
Marion was a little bigger and had some more athletes as compared to Mesick, a team the Panthers beat in the season opener 28-20, Zajac said
“We caught back up but we just ran out of time.” Zajac said.
