Baldwin home baseball game cancelled

BALDWIN — Monday’s scheduled baseball game at Baldwin between the Panthers and Crossroads Academy was canceled after Baldwin announced it would not be able to field a full team.

The West Michigan D League rivalry was set for a doubleheader.

“We have 11 baseball players,” said Baldwin High School principal Dan Bauer. “Last week we had our fourth-quarter mid-term progress grade reports go out and six players were academically ineligible. Since we could not field a team with five players, we had to cancel the game.

“Students have a time period now to get their grades back up to be eligible to play.”

Depending on the eligibility status, Baldwin athletic director Abe Williams indicated Monday night that the team could be able to resume action by next week.
