Baldwin girls prepare for opener

BALDWIN — Baldwin’s girls basketball team has had several days to get outdoors and prepare for the season opener which is set for April 21 at home against Muskegon Heights.

Right now, Baldwin coach Bob Hilts has a 12-player roster.

“I’m hoping for more but that’s what I’ve got,” Hilts said. “I would like a few more. We’ve been outdoors all week and part of last week. We’re getting better.”

Muskegon Heights has had a struggling program in recent seasons.

“We usually beat them,” Hilts said. “Last year we really pounded them. I had a pretty good team last year. I’ve lost to them only once in my career of coaching and I shouldn’t have lost that one. They really don’t have a lot. They’re a struggling team.”
