BALDWIN — Baldwin’s girls basketball team broke into the win column Tuesday night with a 41-21 win over Muskegon Heights.

Freshman Amani Freeman led Baldwin with 14 points, 13 rebounds and six blocks.

“Sophomore Myah Lewis had a great floor game with seven assists and stellar defensive performance,” coach Doug Bolles said.

Baldwin is 1-8 overall and 0-8 in the West Michigan D League.

“It’s starting to click a little bit,” Bolles said. “Everything fell into place. I had nine girls who scored. I would say it’s our best effort all season. We got a few more fast-break opportunities. Amanyi, being in the post, is being consistent and scoring in double figures.”

On Friday, Baldwin lost to Pentwater 43-34.

“We played really well against Pentwater,” Baldwin coach Doug Bolles said. “We had a three-point lead heading into the fourth quarter.”

Freeman had another solid game with 14 points and 13 rebounds, while another freshman Mariah Sowle got her first start of the season, and had a solid all-around floor game at point guard.

“But she did her best work on defense, holding Emily Gebhardt, Pentwater’s leading scorer, to only three baskets,” Bolles said.

Baldwin on Friday is at Grand Traverse.
