Baldwin girls improve despite losses

BALDWIN — The Baldwin girls basketball team is still looking for its first win and has an 0-9 record overall and 0-8 West Michigan D League mark.

But the Panthers have had some positive performances in recent weeks.

On Tuesday, the Panthers lost 51-25 to Bear Lake in West Michigan D League action. They lost to Manistee Catholic Central 52-35.

In the loss to MCC, coach Alex Torres was pleased.

“We played a phenomenal game,” Torres said. “We only had six players. We played our hearts out.”

But all six of the girls performed extremely well, Torres pointed out.

Players were Marissa and Marlena Wroblewski, Jenna Johnson, Maria Sowle, Allene See and Taliyah Lewis.

Torres is hoping the recent improvement displayed by the Panthers will transfer over into additional games and result in that first elusive win of the season.

Baldwin also plays on Monday at Evart.
