Baldwin girls fall to Muskegon Heights

BALDWIN — Not many local sporting activities took place on Monday night, thanks to the area’s prevailing ice storm.

But Baldwin’s girls basketball team made the trip to Muskegon Heights that evening and came back with a 64-21 loss.

“I wasn’t really worried about the score,” Baldwin coach Alex Torres said. “I just wanted my girls to finish strong.”

Scorers for Baldwin included Jenna Johnson, Mariah Sowle and Myah Lewis.

The Panthers played a West Michigan D League game on Friday at Walkerville and lost 57-9.

“Walkerville plays hard and my team is sticking it out,” Torres said. “That’s all I’m asking for.”

She acknowledged that the team, 0-7 overall, continues to struggle offensively.

“At this point, we’re just learning to play as a team,” Torres said.

“She’s been working with her players to adjust to play with whomever is on the court.”

The Panthers are home on Friday against Manistee Catholic Central in West Michigan D League action. Baldwin is at Bear Lake next Tuesday.
