Baldwin girls fall in double overtime
BALDWIN — Baldwin’s girls basketball team lost 64-60 in double overtime last Thursday at Grand Traverse Academy.
The Panthers nearly won the game despite having to overcome some adversity to two of their best players.
“Makayla George reinjured her knee in the first quarter and sat the rest of the night,” coach Doug Bolles said. “Amani Freeman fouled out in the first overtime.”
Diamond Cannon had 21 points for Baldwin while Freeman chipped in with 15 and Kiera Barker added 10. Jaylee Warren had eight points and 12 rebounds, Freeman had 11 boards and six blocks.
“We’re getting there, we’re very much improved, we just need to continue to cut back on our turnovers,” Bolles said. “I’m really proud of the girls effort all night long. We only dressed eight.”
Baldwin is 1-9 overall and 0-8 in West Michigan D League play.
Baldwin plays Thursday at Mason County Eastern.
A scheduled game Tuesday at Walkerville was snowed out and rescheduled for Feb. 23.
