Baldwin girls drop close ballgames
BALDWIN — Baldwin’s girls basketball team had two losses earlier this week but were very competitive in both games.
Tuesday at Manistee Catholic Central, Baldwin lost 39-21 in West Michigan D League action.
“We played well again, and were only down 13-10 at the half,” Baldwin coach Doug Bolles said. “We just have to learn it’s a four-quarter game. We have to learn how to finish.”
Diamond Cannon and Kiera Barker led Baldwin with six points each.
Amani Freeman had 11 rebounds.
Baldwin lost at home Monday to Onekama 52-37. Leading scorers for Baldwin were Cannon (14) and Barker (9), while top rebounders were Freeman (10), Jaylee Warren (9) and Cannon (7). Freeman had four blocks.
Warren had a 3-point play in the first half when Baldwin trailed 20-8. Cannon had some key drives to the basket and it was 25-20, Onekama, at halftime.
“We are a much improved team,” Bolles said. “I am looking forward to the stretch run.”
Onekama is now 10-3.
