BALDWIN – Despite cancelling its season opener last Thursday against Mesick for lack of numbers, Baldwin is still hopeful of having a football season.

Coach Bob Watkins said he has had as many as 13 players come out for 8-man practices this week and the school is planning on a game at 1 p.m. on Sept 10 at Manistee Catholic Central.

A couple of those players were on the junior high and it’s not known yet if there will be enough players for a team on that level. There was no junior high team last season.

“This year we are optimistic,” Watkins said.

Watkins acknowledged because of lack of numbers, practices have focused on improving individual skills.

Baldwin’s first home game will now be against Marion on Friday Sept. 16. Another home game will be on Sept. 23 against Farwell. Homecoming is on Oct. 7 with Bear Lake.
