BALDWIN - Baldwin coach Bob Watkins is impressed with the numbers he has on the junior high team for the 2021 season.

He has 15 varsity players and started with the junior high last week.

"We have more junior high than varsity," Watkins, who is coaching both teams, along with assistant Rusty Fullerton, said. "They practice with us."

The first game will be later this month for the junior high.

The varsity plays at Mesick in a West Michigan League game on Friday.

Watkins isn't sure what to expect from Friday's opponent.

"They did send me some film but I haven't had a chance to look at it," he said.

Mesick lost 38-22 to Mount Pleasant Sacred Heart in its first game of the season.
