BALDWIN – Baldwin football and basketball players are staying busy for what they hope will be a very productive summer.

This includes Brian Flowers who will be a junior for the 2022-23 seasons. He plays football and basketball.

“I’m lifting (at the football fieldhouse) to build up my strength for football,” he said. “I’m a lineman. We just got done with our summer basketball program. I feel like I’m making some progress and I feel like all the other players are too.”

It’s a far cry from two years ago when COVID canceled summer programs.

Marcus Martin is also participating in summer sports. He will be in ninth grade and will play basketball, football and baseball. In football, he’s a wide receiver.

“It’s helpful to have this,” he said. “It gets me involved in different things.”

Football practices will officially start on Aug. 8. Coach Bob Watkins has had the weight room open for his players.
