Baldwin finishes 4-5 after weekend camp tournament

BALDWIN — It was a busy weekend for coach Scott Pedigo and his Baldwin boys basketball team.

The Panthers participated Saturday and Sunday in a weekend basketball camp at Ferris State University. They were 0-4 after pool play but finished 4-5 after advancing deep into the tournament round.

Teams that Baldwin defeated included Crossroads, Gwinn and White Cloud. A loss to Kingsley ended the team’s march through the tournament round.

Baldwin had eight players in the summer camp venture at FSU with the likes of Robert Beebe, Tyler Buck, Devon Burrell, Brandon Childress and Andon Ware. The summer schedule was set to continue with a scrimmage at Reed City Wednesday of this week with Crossroads and the host school providing the opposition.

“This weekend, we work the Gus Macker at Ludington,” Pedigo said. “We put up no parking signs and do other things. They give us donations that pays for the camps.”

Pedigo indicated there will be open gyms and noted he is allowed to work no more than 15 days with players. He’s also hoping to add scrimmages with Brethren to the summer slate.
