Baldwin boys defeat Traverse City Christian

BALDWIN — Baldwin’s boys basketball team improved its record to 13-5 on Monday with a 72-48 road victory at Traverse City Christian in nonleague play.

The Panthers are at Bear Lake on Thursday and at home Saturday afternoon with Brethren to close the regular season. They will open Class D district play at Manistee Catholic Central next week.

Against TC Christian, “we were ready to play,” Baldwin coach Kevin Dillard said. “We are working harder and coming out prepared to get ready for a tournament run.”

Baldwin was up 22-11 after the first quarter and 38-24 at halftime. The Panthers led 53-32 after the third quarter and had a 19-15 scoring edge in the fourth.

I was very proud of our second-half defense and how we came out to start the third-quarter run,” Dillard said.

Damon Copeland led Baldwin with 21 points, followed by Deondra Copeland wih 19 and Blake Dockery with 16.

“The big three has been steady all year,” Dillard said.

Baldwin will play Mason County Eastern on Monday at MCC to open the districts. the winner plays MCC on Wednesday in a semifinal game. The district final is March 11.
