BALDWIN - Baldwin boys basketball coach JJ Eads will be entering his third season next year but this will be a very unique summer.

Eads is looking forward to the first full summer he's been able to have with his team since taking over the position two years ago.

He got the job during the summer of 2019 after leaving Reed City for Baldwin and had a very limited summer to work with his team.

Last summer, COVID was going strong and summer programs at the high school were restricted and basically were not allowed. The winter season didn't start until late January and early February.

But all sports teams basically are planning on some type of summer program.

"We got some scrimmages scheduled," Eads said earlier this week.

He also indicated there would be some open gyms. He's hopeful and optimistic of a lot of players partaking in the summer program to get ready for 2021-22. Baldwin won a share of the West Michigan D League title last season.

It's not known yet what type of summer basketball programs not affiliated with the school would take place at Hollister Park.
