Baldwin bowling teams ready for regionals

BALDWIN — Baldwin’s bowling team will compete Friday and Saturday at Alma in Division 4 regional action with hopes of advancing to the state finals the first weekend of March.

The singles tournament of the West Central Michigan High School League were conducted on Saturday.

Brandon Avery took first place for the boys while Josh Butler was second and Nick Green third. Gracie Lemieux took third place for the girls.

Avery had a 699 for his first three games.

In the league for high match play of the season, Avery was No. 1 for the boys and Lemieux tied for No. 1 with two players at Mason County Eastern for the girls. Avery also won for high average and high series this season. Baldwin won the league for the season.

Baldwin coach Nick Miller is hopeful of having several bowlers go to the state finals at Sunnybrook Lanes, Sterling Heights, next month.

“Brandon Avery has a real good shot,” he said.
