BALDWIN  — Baldwin bowlers are now gearing up for conference and regional championships in upcoming weekends.

Conference competition is at Country Lanes Saturday for singles event. Then the Panthers will focus on the Division 4 regionals Feb. 26-27 at Lucky’s Lanes in Traverse City. The teams and individuals will try to qualify for state final competition March 4-5.

Earlier this month, the conference team event was conducted at Baldwin and the Panther girls took first place. The boys were second.

“Right now, they’re all starting to come into their own,” Baldwin coach Nick Miller said. “All of them are stepping up. Ryan (Kolenbrander) is making leaps and bounds Deshawn (Moore), Da’Ron (Copeland) are, too. I’m looking to be pretty competitive at regionals for both girls and guys team.

“Both teams, I’m expecting to do well.”

Along with Kolenbrander, Moore and Copeland, the Panthers are hoping for Demarco Williams, Tyler Clugston and several others to have strong performances.

The girls have been led by Nicole Mooney, Rosie Lemieux, Shay Scott, Christina McCarthy and several others.
