BALDWIN -- Baldwin bowling coach Donn Slimmen has been keeping his team busy with workouts during the holiday season to be ready for the winter portion of the schedule.

The next match is home on Jan. 11 for a conference meet,

"So far, the A team is undefeated," Slimmen said. "The B team has been a bowler short every meet. But we have a bowler back so we should have five for each team and won't be a bowler short anymore. The B team might have a chance to do a little better than they've already been doing."

Bowling teams compete in two baker games and two five-on-fives. A typical Saturday event goes about two to three hours.

Jesse Pancio has been among the team's top bowlers. He went to the Division 4 state finals last year and placed 19th in singles. He's also playing basketball as a point guard.

Derek Mock is on the bowling and basketball team.

For bowling, "it's been going good," he said. "My average has gotten better. The key has been having a positive attitude."

His best score has been 163. "I've bowled here and there before I joined the team," he said. "We're looking pretty good. We'll try to go to state."
