Baldwin bowler hits a 299

BALDWIN – Jared Robbins has had quite a season for the Wednesday Night and Thursday Night men's leagues at the Baldwin Bowling Center.

He bowled a 299 earlier in the season at the Wednesday Night League.

Robbins bowled his first 299 in a regular sanctioned game. He said he's bowled a 300 in practice.

On his last throw, he left a solid 10 pin.

“It was probably the best shot of the game that I threw,” he recalled.

By the seventh frame, Robbins started thinking about the 300. He notes that it's usually around that time that he falters. But not on this occasion.

“They gave me the pin I missed,” Robbins said.

His previous high sanctioned game was a 279.

“I'm coming off a three-year break,” Robbins said. “The first 10 weeks I really struggled. I'm slowly getting my average back up. I started competitively when I was in high school, at 14, and was on youth leagues.”

Four years ago, he started the season with a 215. His best series this year is a 713.

“The night after I threw a 299, I threw a 290,” he said.
