BALDWIN  — Kendall Phillips is a sophomore who is in his first year of bowling for Baldwin.

The Panthers have been busy with weekend events.

Recently, Phillips and his teammates bowled at The Gate Lanes in Big Rapids.

“It wasn’t what I expected,” he said. “I’m hoping to get better and improve. The season has been OK. We could pick up our spares and do better.”

It was a simple decision for Phillips to join the bowling team.

“I’ve always liked bowling,” he said. “It’s something fun to do. Something to do with your time. It’s a pretty tricky game. It seems simple. Once you get there you realize that.”

The key to success is “trying to get the curve down on the ball and get your stance down on your approach.”

Phillips plays football and baseball, along with bowling.

“I’d say (bowling) is better than most sports,” he said. “It’s more mental and more fun to do overall.”

Baldwin is home this Saturday and on Feb. 6 for conference matches and is back at The Gate on Feb. 20.
