Baldwin baseball team falls to Crossroads

BALDWIN — Crossroads swept Baldwin in a pair of four-inning nonleague baseball games Monday 2-0 and 12-0.

Ryan Smithy was the winning pitcher in the first game and Adam Frisbie earned the win in the nightcap. Brooks Angell had a double in the opener and Zack Rardin a double in the second game.

Crossroads is 9-3. Baldwin fell to 0-6.

Clay Bowens, Maverick Fisher, Adam Frasier and Damon Nichols had hits for Baldwin.

“We really didn’t put much together,” Baldwin coach Doug Bolles said. “Game 1, I’m happy. We have a long way to go. We compete all the time. Game 1 we really competed. We didn’t hit the ball. In Game 2 we still didn’t hit the ball.”

Baldwin lost a doubleheader to Crossroads earlier in the season in West Michigan D League action.

Bolles noted there are other school activities like driver’s training that sometimes have prevented various players from being at a full game.

Fisher took the loss in the first game and Copeland took the loss in the second game.
