BALDWIN – Baldwin’s Blake Dockery finished second in the long jump at the West Michigan D League conference final on Monday.

He jumped 19 feet, 6 ½ inches. Kenny Sibley of Walkerville won at 19-7 ¼, Morgan Titus was eighth for the girls in the shot put with an effort of

20-7 ½.

Dockery earned all-conference honors.

“He didn’t jump his best,” Baldwin coach Bob Watkins said.

Jenna Johnson, a favorite in the sprints, had a previous obligation, Watkins said, and wasn’t able to compete/

Dexter Hossler was in the 800 and wasn’t able to get top eight.

“We have to regroup and get our act together and get ready for the regionals on Friday (at Holton),” Watkins said.

Baldwin will be taking about four athletes to the regional. Last season, Dockery qualified for the state meet and placed third. Johnson competed in the 100 and took eighth at the state final.
