John RaffelBALDWIN – Former Baldwin principal and vice principal Al Nichols was honored by the school’s alumni at Saturday’s alumni basketball game at the high school gymnasium.
Nichols was unable to attend but was represented by family members. Former Baldwin athletic director Abe Williams and his wife circulated a banner, which was signed by various individuals and presented to the Nichols family.
Nichols was in Baldwin 1972-98 and now resides in Muskegon. He also coached at Baldwin.
“He came here as an outsider and we didn’t know too much about him,” Abe Williams said. “But we saw what he could do for our community. Al did so much for so many people.”
“We thank Al for being the person he was,” Yvonne Williams said. “He brought great influence to Baldwin. He made a difference at Baldwin schools and the Baldwin community. He gave us what was needed when he was here.”
