BALDWIN – Que Fitz is looking forward to having the alumni basketball game in Baldwin this year.

The event was canceled last year because of the pandemic, but is back on.

Fitz organizes the event every year at the Baldwin High School gym.

The Alumni All-Star basketball classic is July 24. It’s the 19th such game.

It tips off at 4 p.m. A youth game is set for 3 p.m.

Marcus Latimer, Elliott Lindsey Scott Ascomb, Montice Jennings, Dustin Draper, Eric Johnson and Ricky Johnson are among the 22 players scheduled to attend.

“The older players you’re used to seeing like Reggie Fox have pretty much retired,” Fitz said. “It’s the newer generation that’s taking over. You still have some good athletes and it should be a competitive game, We usually average around 250 spectators. Maybe it’s that plus this year.”

A memorial tribute to former coach and community activist P.T. Jones will be conducted.
