Baldwin Little League teams ready for key games

BALDWIN — It’s a key time of the season for the two Baldwin Little League teams.

It’s the middle part of the league schedule in June. The Buckley and Mollohan teams will scrimmage each other this Friday and on June 27 at Hollister Fields.

The Buckley team was scheduled to play at home Wednesday of this week against Scottville and is at Riverton June 23. The Mollohan team has home games June 25 and June 26. Both games are against Scottville. The one on June 26 will be a makeup from June 11 when the game was rained out.

Practices for both teams will continue on Monday and Wednesday. The team that isn’t playing a game will have a 5-6 p.m. practice.

Bill Buckley, coach of the Buckley team, said officials are working on tournaments for the end of the season.

“Harold Nichols (league official), is working on it,” Buckley said. “We’re trying to put it together.”

Michael Mollohan is coach of the Mollohan team, which played Monday at Custer and lost 7-4.

Among the pitchers and leading hitters was Michael Mollohan.

“Most of our on-bases were walks,” said Mollohan. “From the beginning of the season until now, it’s been 100 percent improvement. I’m proud of them.”
