Baldwin JV team off to strong start

BALDWIN — Baldwin’s junior varsity team defeated Mason County Eastern on Tuesday 42-37.

Zach Lovett netted 16 points and Ryan Kolenbrander had 10 points for Baldwin.

The Panthers last Thursday defeated Walkerville 58-33. Andre Hobbs netted 22 points. Lovett added 14 points.

Baldwin is coached by Erica Tate, assisted by Lindsey Jackson.

“They’re working hard and playing well,” Tate said. “The team play, all together, it’s level on the boys. We don’t try to focus on (individual achievements) a lot.”

Some of her players, Tate said, have performed since the eighth grade.

“We have some new players too, some who have never played before,” she said. “It’s a wide variety, we have experience and inexperience.”

Her team continued to learn in all facets of the game.

From the first game of the season to the second, “they’re picking up on things a lot faster,” Tate said.

Baldwin plays at Onekama on Thursday night prior to entering the spring break.
