File photoBALDWIN – Baldwin’s football team opened practices on Monday for its 8-player season but head coach Bob Watkins is looking for more bodies.
“We have probably six to seven kids so far,” Watkins said on Tuesday.
But he’s been working with the players he has during practices By the end of the week he’s looking for more athletes to get their physicals taken and provide him with more numbers. He’s figuring on needing from 10 to 14 players.
“We have the numbers in terms of signups and I’m waiting on that and I have kids trying to finish summer school,” Watkins said. “We’ll see what we end up with.”
Baldwin has a scrimmage at Montabella on Aug. 19.
“More players need to get their physicals so we can be ready for our first game,” Watkins said.
The Panthers are slated to be at home with Mesick on Aug. 25 to open the season.
