BALDWIN — Josh Frantz is a resident of White Cloud and a member of the Bitely-Baldwin chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation.

He was also recently a successful turkey hunter.

Frantz bagged a tom with a 10-inch beard in the White Cloud area on May 5.

He shot it shortly before 7 a.m. that day. He looked for it for a half hour.

“He came in and was fighting with about three jakes,” Frantz said. “He started to play with the decoys. They kept fighting. They turned away and then I got my shot.”

He’s been hunting for 20 years.

“It’s an average one for me,” he said. “There’s a lot of birds and lot of activity. Everyone has been fairly successful.”

Frantz also is an active deer hunter. “There seems to be a lot of deer,” he said. “It appears everything has gotten through the winter.”
