Why do Crocs have 142,000 ratings on Amazon?
The people have spoken. They like Crocs.
Online reviews can be very useful, entertaining, or deceiving. The internet, Amazon especially, is rampant with fake reviews. But when a product has over 142,000 reviews and/or ratings, chances are the product is legit. So, why on earth do these Crocs have over 142,000 ratings, and 32,000 fully written reviews?
89% of those ratings are 5 stars, by the way.
People hop online to review just about anything. People even write reviews about toothbrushes. In my line of work, I am often very critical when I read reviews. So, I was pretty shocked to see Crocs have so many reviews. I knew people liked Crocs. I like Crocs, I own a few. The shoe is a hot button debate because some people find them ugly. If you ever need an instant pick-me-up, you should read the reviews for Crocs on Amazon.

Internet folks are having too much fun in the comments section of an Amazon page selling Crocs. I happen to think I am fairly aware of Internet culture, but I was still shocked to read a review titled, "How Crocs changed my life:"
I will admit, I once was a hater. I lived a hateful negative life where I truly despised this footwear. But recently I've made many drastic life changes and these shoes have helped me see the light. They have helped me to see the beauty of the world and give me the confidence to face whatever obstacles life may throw my way. I can now walk outside with confidence. These shoes, these marvelous shoes, help me to live my life to the fullest not only in style but with such comfort no amount of words can begin to describe. I will now continue to live my life with an open mind to such fashion statements. No more will I live with my head hung low, but now I wear my crocs with pride. Sports mode empowers me while relaxed mode truly is the epitome of serenity. Crocs have also been the glue that has bonded me and one my best friends. Crocs truly change your life and bring people together. I will forever be indebted to this spectacular shoe.
Some of the top reviews and ratings on these particular Crocs are definitely part of an Internet joke. But still, many of these reviewers are labeled Verified Purchase, which means they did actually buy the Crocs. These reviewers even share photos of their Crocs. Many people have shared photos of their dogs wearing their Crocs as a hat. Turns out nternet jokes can be pure and not at the expense of another person! Who knew?
Other reviewers genuinely seem enthused to tell the world why they love their Crocs. Not for a joke. Not to share a silly photo. Simply because they love Crocs. One reviewer called them, "Cutest Comfy Ugly Shoe You Can Buy:"
I bought this classic fit (wide) shoe in size 6 men to get a size 8 women's. It fits perfectly. Most comfortable shoe or clog ever. They are also ugly but they are so ugly that they are cute. To be clear, I bought these to wear with fluffy socks so I have the room I need (my feet are not wide) when wearing the fluffy socks. The strap can be in the back or in the front. I like having it across my heel when wearing socks. Feet don't sweat thanks to all of the vents. You can also put cute little Jibbitz on them that people will notice and take their attention away from the ugly shoes. You can wear these things all day, 10-12 hours and your feet and legs will hold out. I got the original classic style because so many people online complained about the soles coming apart on the newer style. So buyer beware, if you try them you will love them.
A nice relatively-new feature when sorting through reviews on Amazon is that you can see the keywords that brought you to that particular item. These Crocs have a number of keywords that make sense as to why they're beloved:
- Easy to slip on
- Arch support
- Around the house
- Highly recommend
- True to size
- Another pair
- Second pair
These are instant flags to a buyer for obvious reasons. A Croc is a good, true-to-size shoe to wear around the house with arch support that people highly recommend; some people are even buying a second pair. People love their Crocs!
