Marquette Trails League stays active
It’s July and golf action remains active at Marquette Trails near Baldwin.
Chris Balulis said the leagues this year are Wednesday and Thursday night for men plus plus a Tuesday night for women’s league. There’s also senior citizens men Tuesday morning.
A major activity recently at the course was the 4 person scramble for Lake County Habitat and also Blessing of the Clubs.
“It was really a nice turnout, “ Balusis said. “We had 22 teams and 88 players. I don’t know what the final tally was in money raised It was a nice turnout and a nice day.”
The club posted final tallies of the Ted & Dale Memorial Golf classic on May 11. Dale Jones was the former golf pro and Ted Pettengill was former area businessman.
“They were great friends and golf partners.” Balusis said. It was the nine annual event in memory of two former golfers. A total of $6,900 was raised. Of that amount $1,500 in senior scholarships went to Angelyn Kutchinski and Willie Jones. A total of $750 each were sent to Grace Mobil Food Pantry. St. Ann’s Food Pantry, St. Ann’s Senior Service (Meals on Wheels). and Lake County Christmas program plus $500 to Shrine of the Pines and $500 for Troutarama.
The Idlewild American Chamber of Commerce will have a golf tournament at the club on Saturday, June 28, Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. and shot gun start with 8 a.m. Contact John Meeks (231) 745-9695 for more information.
