BALDWIN — The Lake County Sportsman Club continues to pursue its efforts to gain a piece of property from the Pleasant Plains Township Board that is at the airport site.

“We’ll have to go to their next board meeting and see what the story is,” said sportsman club president Rick Delamater. “I haven’t gotten answers. They said get the lease around and we’ll give it to the attorney for his review. We got the lease around and they didn’t do anything with it.”

Delamater said once the club secures the property, it will start looking at grants to develop the site into a sportman’s club facility.

Delamater said club members at their meeting on Saturday talked about antleress deer restrictions.

There will be a presentation at the next meeting.

The club, after Troutarama will start shooting archery targets at Bob Myers’ residence, in rural Baldwin. Myers is a club member.

“He has a 15-target range set up on his property,” Delamater said. “That will be fun to get started. The serious archers are starting to get ready.”

Archery deer season is Oct. 1. That’s preceded by small game season Sept. 15 and proceeded by firearm deer season Nov. 15.
