Youth service summer camp serves Baldwin community

BALDWIN — A group of 17 youth and eight adults from the Northwest Deanery Youth Service Summer Camp came to Baldwin, completing four days of service work in the community.

The group was hosted at St. Ann's Catholic Church, Bread of Life Food Pantry and St. Ann's Senior Center. The youth are from the Northwest Deanery of the Diocese of Grand Rapids, covering Lake, Mason, Newaygo and Oceana counties.

Along with helping out at places such as the food pantry, they also enjoyed leadership talks, prayer and devotion time and plenty of food provided by volunteers at St. Ann parish and lunches at the senior center.

"I am overwhelmed with the generosity at St. Ann's for providing meals and snacks for them," said parishioner Dona TenBrock, who organized accommodations for the youth.

The youth camp leaders thanked the church, pantry and senior center for hosting them.

"Your love and support of the youth this past week has been shown through your delicious and abundant food, kind smiles and words of welcoming spirit to our group. We hope to visit St. Ann's again soon," youth leaders expressed in a thank you note.
