Troutarama 2022 kicks off July 20

BALDWIN — Thrills, family fun and Baldwin tradition awaits locals and visitors alike this week as Troutarama kicks off this year in conjunction with the Baldwin Sesquicentennial.

There will be a special Troutarama carnival preview 4-10 p.m. Wednesday. Enjoy an entire day of carnival rides with a $10 bracelet. At 7 p.m., the Mustang Band will provide live music for free.

Crafts and vendor booths open at 9 a.m. Thursday, with the afternoon bring of kids games and contests, Family Fun Tyme Amusements and a penny scramble by the Pleasant Plains Fire Department. The Little King and Queen contest begins at 5:30 p.m.

A horse pull also will take place at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, followed by the kiddie and pet parade at 7 p.m. A free concert by The Scottville Clown Band will be sure to delight listeners at 8 p.m.

On Friday, there will be more youth activities, vendors and live music. Pixie Pony Rides also will be on site. A new event, minnow races, will take place near the Brown Trout sculpture from noon to 2 p.m. Youth ages 15 and younger can participate for free. Race a minnow and win a prize. Minnows are provided. Those older than 15 years old can participate, but it will cost $1 per race.

Saturday is packed-full of activity with softball tournaments, a Troutarama 5K walk/run at 9 a.m. and the Grand Parade at 1 p.m. A fireman's water battle will follow at 2:30 p.m. and a free concert by the Scottville Clown Band. Minnow races also will take place 6-8 p.m.

The 2022 Troutarama raffle drawing will take place at 10:30 p.m. with first place prize as $1,000; second prize is a StealthCraft stand and Up Paddle Board. Third prize is a full day Pere Marquette River trip guided by John Matson's River Shark Outfitters.
