Shirley Marie Latin

CHASE — Shirley Marie Latin, 77, of Chase, passed away on Good Friday, March 25, 2016, at the Spectrum Health Reed City Rehab and Nursing Facility.

She was born on April 5, 1938, in Reed City, to Delbert and Lenora (Besey) Dolley, and attended Reed City area schools. On Dec. 1, 1962, she was married to William Latin, who survives her. Shirley received her nursing degree from Grand Rapids Community College and went on to work at Reed City Hospital for more than 35 years. She was a longtime member of the St. Philip-Neri Catholic Church in Reed City. She enjoyed cooking, traveling, reading, playing the organ and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her husband, William Latin, of Chase; children, Karen (Tom) Kienitz, Linda Latin and Tom (Keri) Latin, all of Chase; sister, Erma Jean Martz, of Reed City; grandchildren, Andrew, Nathan, Matthew, Benjamin, Eric, Katelynn, Elijah and Emma; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Delbert and Lenora Dolley; brother, Louis Dolley; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Anna (Leonard) Pollaski, Pauline Latin, Dolly Courtade, Zorka Latin, John (Edith) Latin and Violet Latin.

Funeral services took place on Wednesday, March 30, 2016, at the St. Philip-Neri Catholic Church, with the Rev. Fr. Michael Hodges officiating. Burial will be at Woodland Cemetery in Reed City.

Memorial contributions may be made in her name to either the Myasthenia Gravis Foundation of Michigan (mg-mi.org) or to the St. Philip-Neri Catholic Church’s parking lot fund.
