The National Weather Service reports that thunderstorms will increase in coverage and intensity during the late afternoon and evening hours as a cold front tracks through the region.
"Scattered severe thunderstorms will be capable of producing wind gusts to 60 mph and hail to 1-inch in diameter," the U.S. National Weather Service Detroit/Pontiac Michigan stated on its Facebook page. "In addition, an isolated tornado will be possible. Severe thunderstorms are most likely between 4 p.m. and 10 p.m. with a chance for thunderstorms across the northern Thumb prior to 4 p.m. Individual storms will track to the east-northeast at 40 to 45 mph, while the entire line sags southeastward along the front."
The greatest risk is in the Thumb region and southeast Michigan, which is listed as having a slight risk in the weather service's morning outlook. Mid-Michigan faces a marginal risk and northwest Michigan will face a marginal risk or simply general thunder.
