Members of St. Ann Senior Center have yet another blessing to count this Thanksgiving season.

Organizers of the Baldwin Salmon Run, Deborah Hanes and Renee Bernardi, handed Shelly Shafer, director of St. Ann Senior Center, a $2,000 check from proceeds of the run, which took place this last September.

"I am so happy we were able to do this," Hanes said. "Hopefully next year we grow even more. We had a lot of positive comments from runners, saying they will be back. They are telling their friends. That's what we want.

With a high population of senior citizens in Lake County, with many who are serviced through the center, the money will go to good use. The center also is a venue for community events.

Shafer would like to see it go toward a button to make the entrance door ADA accessible.

Hanes is thankful for the sponsors who made the donation to St. Ann’s Senior Center possible.
