Ruth J. Connick

Ruth Jean’ne Connick, 80, passed away in the early morning on March 21, 2012 at Ludington Hospital and was entrusted to the care of Verdun Funeral Home in Baldwin, MI. Ruth was born in Salt Lake City, UT on Feb. 3, 1932 to parents Paul Leland Gilmore & Violet Boweter Gilmore. She was named after her grandmother Ruth Criswell Wilson. She had three brothers: Jerry Leland Gilmore, Michael David Gilmore and Donald Paul Gilmore.

She graduated from East High School in SLC and attended the University of Utah. Her interests ranged from collegiate skiing, to animals, mysteries and Egyptian culture. She lived most of her adult life in Southern California where she met and married Lavern Bates Connick on October 23rd, 1984. The couple retired together in Baldwin, MI.

In recent years, Jean’ne passionately supported various charities benefitting both humans and animals, alike. She loved sharing her favorite places in Michigan with her family & friends. Those closest to her heart will always hear her voice cheerfully call out the many attractions along her favorite local routes. And they will never forget the joy Jean’ne experienced in 2005, when she fulfilled her life-long dream of traveling to Egypt to climb to the great pyramids!

Ruth is survived by her husband Lavern Bates Connick; daughter Susan Jennifer Gilmore Beach, grandchildren Jonel & Sean Beach; son Raymond Gilmore Maw, daughter-in-law Penny Narloch Maw, grandchildren Ryan, Logan & Spencer Maw; son Robert Connick, daughter-in-law Lynn Connick, grandson Robert Connick Jr. & his wife Amy Connick and granddaughter Patricia Connick Goodwin; daughter Sandra Connick Smith, son-in-law Larry Smith, grandson Seth Smith; sister-in-law Madeline Hanford, nephew Phil Hanford & his wife Sandy Hanford.

The family’s heartfelt thanks go out to our dear friends and family members for the love and support given to Jean’ne and our family over the years and at her passing. Ruth’s family plans to celebrate her life in a private memorial reunion later this year.
