Reaching out: St. Ignatius donates clothing to Ukraine refugees

LUTHER — With all the heartbreak and devastation happening in the Ukraine the past few weeks, parishioners at St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Luther wasted no time reaching out.

"The people of St Ignatius and the Luther community came together and donated new and gently used clothing for the people of Ukraine," said Renee Parizon, one of the organizers of the effort. "With only one week’s notice, we were able to collect enough clothing to fill 85 boxes."

Parizon, along with her husband Ron, Sara, Zane and Ivey Gray, along with Dennis Karczynksi, stayed after Mass to pack up the boxes last Sunday. The boxes were then transported by the Parizon's and Karczynski and his wife, Pam, to the Church of the Nazarene in Traverse City last Tuesday.

The donations are to be shipped to Poland to aid the Ukraine refugees.

Parizon is thankful for all who reached out in the Luther community and at St. Ignatius.

"God bless these generous people and the people of Ukraine," she said.
