A lot of the Vegan Organic Rice Mac & Cheeze from company Amy's Kitchen is being recalled due to a potential of containing trace amounts of milk that is not declared on the product label, according to a notice from the Food and Drug Administration.
"Consumers should check their home freezers for the Vegan Organic Rice Mac & Cheeze with Lot Code 60J0421, and should not consume them," the notice read.
A total of 15,626 cases of the product are affected by the recall. The 8-ounce packages with the "Best By" date of 10/2023 and UPC 42272-00043 are being voluntarily recalled by the company in cooperation with the FDA.
The recall was issued after a test result from a third-party laboratory indicated that one of the frozen meals contained trace amounts of milk protein in a supposedly vegan product.
