BALDWIN — In honor and celebration of Martin Luther King Day, the Martin Luther King, Jr. Commemorative Committee invites the public to the annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration Concert at the Baldwin High School gym.

The free event will kick off with a meal at 1 to 2:15 p.m.

"The meal is very nice," said Cher Robinson, secretary of Baldwin Schools Superintendent's office.

Following the meal, at 2:30, the concert program will take place featuring Minister Chris C. J. Kingdom Grier and Dynamic Praise, of Holland. Grier is a native of Idlewild and has been the pastor of worship arts at Maple Avenue Ministries in Holland. He also is founder of Grier Heritage Music Seminar and has worked with numerous churches, choirs and denominations in the U.S. and abroad. He travels internationally with Dynamic Praise.

"We look forward to an inspiring and moving tribute concert," said Pastor Denise Suttles of Martin Luther King, Jr. Commemorative Committee. "The gospel program also will host First Baptist of Woodland Park praise team. The committee also is proud to feature the local talent of artist and author Judy Morris. Morris will have her art on display and be available to sign her children's book, 'Five Goats in a Truck.'"

Every year the committee presents a giant award, and this year's recipient is Faith Jones-Salaam. There also is a Baldwin elementary student essay competition.
