Lake County voters to decide on several millage proposals in August

Fire, roads and emergency services all on ballot

LAKE COUNTY — Along with deciding who will represent them at several state and local governmental positions, voters in Lake County will be asked to vote on several local millage proposals on the August ballot.

DOVER TOWNSHIP

In Dover Township, residents will be voting on a Fire District millage renewal, which is requesting an increase of the previous Headlee Rollback levy to the previously approved levy of 2 mills for five years for fire protection services.The millage is expected to raise an estimated $34,000 per year to fund the fire district.

ELK TOWNSHIP 

In Elk Township voters will decide on millage renewal proposals for fire protection equipment and operations, and road maintenance.

The millage renewal proposal for fire protection equipment is requesting approval of a 1 mill levy for a period of six years, expected to raise an estimated $81,373 per year, for providing fire equipment within the township.

The fire protection and emergency operations millage renewal proposal is requesting a levy of 1 mill for a period of five years, for an estimated $81,373 per year, for providing fire protection and emergency services to the township.

The road improvements and maintenance millage proposal is requesting an additional levy of 1 mill for six years, for an estimated $81,373 per year to be used for road maintenance and improvement.

NEWKIRK TOWNSHIP 

In Newkirk Township voters will be asked to approve the renewal of a previously approved .9940 mill levy for the purchase, maintenance and operation of fire trucks used by the township, estimated to raise $29,353 per year. 

SAUBLE TOWNSHIP 

In Sauble Township voters will be asked to approve a proposal requesting renewal of a 1 mill levy for a period of five years, estimated to bring in $29,950 per year, for the maintenance and improvement of township roads.
