Joan T. Robinson

Joan T. Robinson, 66, of Irons passed away unexpectedly Friday, Feb. 18, 2011 at her home.

She was born Jan. 4, 1945 in Hamtramck, the daughter of the late Trino and Mary (Sofranski) Calderon. She was united in marriage to Edwin K. Robinson at St. Florian Catholic Church in Hamtramck on Sept. 9, 1973. He preceded her in death on June 10, 2008. She and her husband moved to the Irons area from Royal Oak in 1984.

She was a communicant of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church of Irons.

Joan is survived by her son, John Robinson of Westland; by her step children, Edwin Robinson of Sterling Heights; Susan (Nick) Schloh of Alabama, Terry (Mike) Church of Rochester Hills, and Nancy Robinson of Grand Rapids; grandchildren, Michele Schloh, Nikki Watson, Julie (Tony) Boutt, Laura (Bill) White, Genevieve Sprague, Saylor, Emily and Kaden Robinson; eight great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her parents and husband, Joan was also preceded in death by her brothers, David and Trino Calderon and by her sisters Frances Sitriewicz and Clara Rundel.

A memorial mass will be celebrated at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church at a date and time to be announced in the spring.

In lieu of flowers, it is suggested that those wanting to remember Joan consider a gift in her memory for the Little Manistee Watershed Conservation Council (LMWCC, PO Box 52, Irons, MI 49644).

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Johnson Funeral Home of Manistee.
