Health departments set up vaccine clinics  

Over 50% of Michiganders have had at least one dose

WEST CENTRAL MICHIGAN — In the push to vaccinate Michiganders against COVID-19, local health providers have set up clinics.

As of Monday, May 3, 50.4% of Michiganders have received at least one dose of either the Pfizer (for ages 16 and older), Moderna (for ages 18 and older) or single dose Johnson & Johnson (for ages 18 and older) vaccine.

Local counties are running behind, with Mecosta County at 37.66%, Osceola County at 38.01% and Lake County at 39.2%, according to the latest date from michigan.gov

According to Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s ‘MI Vacc to Normal’ plan, in-person work for all sectors of business will be allowed two weeks after 55% of Michiganders receive their first dose.

MECOSTA, LAKE COUNTIES

After months of scheduling individual COVID-19 vaccination clinics as doses became available, District Health Department No. 10 announced it will host weekly first-dose clinic at all ten of its county offices.

According to a new release Monday, local county health departments will offer first-doses of either Pfizer (for ages 16 and older), Moderna (for ages 18 and older) or single dose Johnson & Johnson (for ages 18 and older) from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 1:30-6:20 p.m. every Tuesday beginning May 11. Second doses of Pfizer and Moderna will be scheduled at the first-dose clinic.

Appointments are preferred, but walk-ins are welcome, the news release states. To schedule an appointment online, visit dhd10.org/schedule. If you do not have access to a computer or the internet, suggests calling 888-217-3904.

OSCEOLA COUNTY

Reed City Church of the Nazarene, 5300 S. 220th Ave., Reed City, will be hosting two COVID-19 vaccine clinics for individuals 18 and older — 8:45 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Thursday, May 6, for first dose; and noon to 8 p.m. Monday, May 10, for Johnson & Johnson.
